The Luhya community mostly resides in the Western part of Kenya with a population of about three million. Unlike in Toronto, Luhyas can hold their ceremonies for as long as two weeks.

A Luhya wedding is not complete without speeches. The speeches normally come after gifts are given and wedding photos are taken but before the cake is cut. The theme of most wedding speeches is usually advice to the groom and his bride on how to take care of their new family. Grooms are advised to take care of the wife and the bride is advised to cook properly for the husband. Different people who may use a lot of proverbs and sayings to drive the point home give variations of the same message.

‘Greta’ US Distribution Confirmed!

Greta has indeed scored distribution for the US! In the past, the film was reported to only have distribution rights in Australia and a few other countries, but not the USA. This means that the news about the premiere might be accurate.

A release date should be announced soon. The movie was planned to premiere during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival with the help of Voltage Pictures, but the idea was canned. Stories of straight-to-DVD rumors started to pop up, but Voltage quickly denied it.

Here’s a quote from a writer of the film:

From what I understand, the producers of GRETA have just recently secured domestic (US) distribution for the film, which means there should be a release date announced soon. Add another movie to Hilary’s list of upcoming films: ‘The Business of Falling in Love.’
Here’s a small step back: the film is a family movie, which is different from her previous mature roles. The movie is planned to air on TV. Hilary will be executive producer to the film as well, having Gil Junger as the director.
ABC Family is teaming with Hilary Duff for “The Business of Falling in Love,” a romantic comedy based on the book “Diary of a Working Girl,” by Daniella Brodsky.
Gil Junger has signed to direct the two-hour original movie, which will star Duff as a fashion reporter who goes undercover in the business world in the hopes of finding love while writing an article about dating men in suits.
In addition to starring, Duff will executive produce the film alongside Frank Von Zerneck, Robert Sertner, Ira Pincus and Jessica Horowitz.

A direção ficará a cargo de Gil Junger, que assinou, este ano, episódios para adaptação televisiva do filme (também dirigido por ele, há uma década) 10 Coisas Que Eu Odeio em Você (outro projeto da ABC Family).
Duff, que conheceu a fama após estrelar Lizzie McGuire, do Disney Channel, interpretará uma repórter de moda que precisa escrever um artigo sobre mulheres que namoram “homens de terno”. Aproveitando a deixa, a personagem, sob disfarce, entra no mundo dos negócios à caça de um grande amor.
Além de protagonizar, a atriz e cantora será produtora executiva do telefilme, que terá roteiro de Mike Horowitz (da série Burn Notice).
Na fila de projetos de Duff está The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, versão moderna da saga do casal de bandidos Bonnie Parker e Clyde Barrow. Sob direção de Tonya S. Holly, a estrela da Disney interpretará Bonnie, vivida Faye Dunaway no clássico de 1967. O papel de Warren Beatty como o criminoso Clyde será assumido por Kevin Zegers, ator canadense que interpretou um garoto de programa em Transamerica, produção indie que valeu a Felicity Huffman indicação ao Oscar de melhor atriz, em 2006.
Na TV, Duff fechou participação no seriado Gossip Girl. Na trama teen, ela será uma estrela de cinema e interesse romântico de Dan (Penn Badgley) e estará no mesmo núcleo que a personagem de Tyra Banks, outra participação especial na terceira temporada da série.
